Intro the Greenpeace Romania website

In 1971, motivated by their vision of a green and peaceful world, a small group of activists left Vancouver, Canada and sailed with a boat to Amchitka, where the U.S. government do underground nuclear testing. These activists, the founders of Greenpeace, believed that the opinion of a group of individuals matter more and change the situation.

Their mission was to witness the U.S. underground nuclear testing in Amchitka, a small island in the west coast of Alaska peninsula, one of the most active seismic zones in terms. Amchitka was the refuge of Lutra 3,000 marine species endangered. It also housed the island in May and other species, including bald eagles and peregrine falcon.

Although the old boat, Phyllis Cormack, was intercepted before reaching the Amchitka, the journey has generated a wave of interest from the public. The United States detonated the bomb, but the voice of reason was heard. Amchitka nuclear tests were completed in the same year, the island was later declared the bird sanctuary.

Headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Greenpeace has over 2.8 million supporters worldwide and offices in 41 countries.
This tradition, to be “witness” to events in a non-violent manner continues today, and Greenpeace vessels are an important part of the campaign organization. Symbol of the Greenpeace ship, Rainbow Warrior, and took its name from an ancient legend of the Cree Indian tribe. It talked about a time when human greed will make the planet we live to get sick. Then, a tribe known as the “Rainbow Riders” will be leveraged to save it. The message that appears on one of the longest banners made by Greenpeace summarizes well this caption: “Only when the last tree was cut, the last river been poisoned and the last fish kill, we find that we can not eat money.”

Most people that destroy the environment know that they are doing the wrong thing, however, their desire to accumulate wealth often overpowers their sense of right and wrong. All they see is money. They are so blinded by the prospect of getting rich that they fail to notice that they are destroying their lives as well.Greenpeace doesn’t need the amount of money the greedy businessmen dream of, only the tiniest fraction of it. If you donate just one euro via SMS to Greenpeace, they promise to fend off the attackers of the environment, until, one day, they will stop seeing value in the destruction and start seeing value in preservation. The Scala JWT Bucharest campaign focuses on the simple game of 1 and 0. If you take away the 1 from 1.000.000.000. you will be left with 000.000.000., which amounts to…nothing. It’s a way to find optimism in a disproportionate battle between the defenders of the environment and their foes.
You can fight for the future on your own, but if you support Greenpeace you may do a better job.
