Palawan is an island province of the Philippines located in the MIMAROPA region or Region 4. Its capital is Puerto Princesa City, and it is the largest province in the country in terms of total area of jurisdiction。

Among the many endemic species are the Palawan Peacock-pheasant, Philippine Mouse-deer, Philippine Pangolin and Palawan Bearded Pig. In the forests and grasslands, the air resonates with the songs of more than 200 kinds of birds. Over 600 species of butterflies flutter around the mountains and fields of Palawan, attracted to some 1500 hosts plants found here. Endangered sea turtles nest on white sand beaches.Dugong numbers have fallen seriously, although Palawan still has a larger population than any other part of the country and organizations such as Community Centred Conservation (C3) are working to end the unsustainable use of marine resources in Palawan and in Philippines.

AFS Intercultural Programs (originally the American Field Service or AFS) was established in 1915 by A. Piatt Andrew, a onetime economics professor at Harvard University and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. Begun as a service of volunteer ambulance drivers in 1914, AFS has evolved into an international youth exchange organization.

Worldwide, AFS is a group of over 50 independent, not-for-profit organizations, each with its own network of volunteers, professionally staffed office, and volunteer board of directors. In 2007, almost 13,000 participants traveled abroad on AFS cultural exchanges between 65 countries, as supported by 36,000 active volunteers.[2] The U.S.-based affiliate, AFS-USA, sends more than 1,500 U.S. students abroad and places international students with more than 2,800 U.S. families each year.

WildAid is an international NGO whose mission is to end the illegal wildlife trade. Rather than an issue of biology or culture WildAid views the illegal wildlife trade fundamentally as a matter of economics – of supply and demand.

WildAid operates a field program in the Galapagos Islands, protecting the Galapagos Marine Reserves, apprehending poachers and smugglers and creating economic alternatives to local communities. In addition to this, WildAid’s unique Active Conservation Awareness Program (ACAP) is designed to drastically reduce the demand for wildlife parts and products – namely in key places such as China and India. WildAid works with media, governments, celebrities and local partners and communities worldwide to make wildlife conservation a global priority.

The founding members are Peter Knights and Steve Trent. The organization’s headquarters are in San Francisco, CA and they have offices in China, India, Cambodia, Galapagos, and London.

Most people that destroy the environment know that they are doing the wrong thing, however, their desire to accumulate wealth often overpowers their sense of right and wrong. All they see is money. They are so blinded by the prospect of getting rich that they fail to notice that they are destroying their lives as well.Greenpeace doesn’t need the amount of money the greedy businessmen dream of, only the tiniest fraction of it. If you donate just one euro via SMS to Greenpeace, they promise to fend off the attackers of the environment, until, one day, they will stop seeing value in the destruction and start seeing value in preservation. The Scala JWT Bucharest campaign focuses on the simple game of 1 and 0. If you take away the 1 from 1.000.000.000. you will be left with 000.000.000., which amounts to…nothing. It’s a way to find optimism in a disproportionate battle between the defenders of the environment and their foes.
You can fight for the future on your own, but if you support Greenpeace you may do a better job.
